The collar units are waterproof and are powered by rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries that can last for five years. An overnight recharge will be enough for at least three full days use.

The hand held remote transmitters are weatherproof and are powered by a common 9volt alkaline battery (smoke alarm battery) which should last at least 6 months.
