Collartron Systems had its beginnings back in the 1980's when Jack Dawson, hunter
and breeder of German Shorthaired Pointers, German Wire Haired Pointers and Large
Munsterlanders, became interested in the electronic training collars that he saw
advertised in American magazines.
Jack imported one for himself, then another of a different brand and then some for
his mates. Very soon he had a little business.
After a few months Jack went to Dallas, Texas to meet the folk at DT Systems Inc.
From there the business grew. Jack's daughter Jill began to help.
Jack started in Marton and finished up in Napier.
About this time Brownings Electronic Services, in Dannevirke, began repairing collars
for Jack. When Jack passed away in the mid 1990's Jill and Max decided to keep the
business operating from Dannevirke. They later moved to Thames and finally to Katikati.
The business has expanded somewhat. We now offer several brands of training collars
and have secured New Zealand rights to distribute Tracker animal tracking Systems
from Finland.
